Some pictures from delivery day...

Because I never finished my birth story (oops).... here are some pictures from the unwanted repeat c-section that turned out to be not bad at all.

Here today....gone tomorrow

He's here!!!!!!!!!!!!

The day had finally come!  My sweet baby was going to be born!

I was told to come into the hospital around 10 AM and my c-section would be scheduled for 12:30.  We dropped ds off with my mom and headed to the hospital.  I was so hungry and thirsty since I wasn't allowed to eat anything after midnight.

We got to the hospital and got checked into a room.  The room was really big and way off to the end of a hallway.  No one else was around us at all.  In fact, I never saw any other patients until we were leaving.

DH and I watched TV for a while.  The nurse came in and told us the c-section before me was running late.  I didn't get an IV placed until noon.  Then FIL, DH's grandma, my mom and ds came to the hospital.  There is a small viewing room where they are able to see the c-section and the baby right after he comes out.  Dr. F. came in and talked to me about what was going to happen.  I was a little nervous, but suprisingly not too bad.

Finally, around 2:30 PM they came and got me and we walked down to the OR.  DH had to wait outside the doors while I got my spinal...which was also not a big deal.

DH came in and it seemed like only minutes later Baby B was born.  I saw them lift him up over the curtain and he was screaming.  He looked good.  They brought him over to the table to clean him up and DH took some pictures of him.

He was born at 2:52 PM and weighed 7lbs 11oz and was 20.75 inches long.

Before I knew it, the surgery was over and they were transferring me back to the bed.  They wheeled me back to my room and I was able to hold Baby B.  He looked perfect...a lot like ds #1.  His hair is a little darker than ds #1 and it's hard to see what color eyes he has.  They look dark blue.

TBC....

How big will Baby B be?

Me:  8lbs 8oz,  21 in
DH:  7lbs 10oz,  20 in
DS:  9lbs 0oz,   22 in
Grandma:  8lbs 4oz
Grandpa:  8lbs 4oz,  22 in
Aunt L.:  8lbs 7oz,  22 in
Aunt C.:  8lbs 10oz,  22 in
Uncle B.:  7lbs 9oz,  19 in
Amy:  7lbs 1oz,
Dawn:  8lbs 4oz,  20 in
Maria:  8lbs 2oz,  21.5 in
Kathryn:  7lbs 4oz,  21 in
Shaun:  7lbs 5oz,  20.75 in
Sarah:  8lbs 6oz
Jill:  8lbs 0oz,  20 in
Jen:  8lbs 9oz,  20.5 in
Vicky:  8lbs 11oz,  21 in
Amy F.:  8lbs 12oz,  21.5 in

And the winners are....

DH for the weight (only an oz. off!) and Shaun for the height which was right on!

39w2d appt. and u/s

So u/s went well.  Baby B is measuring 8lbs 8oz!

Then I saw my OB.  Long story short, I am 5 cm dilated!  WTH?  However, we all know that is means nothing and I could be pregnant forever (ok not really).  We decided to schedule a c-section for Thursday (8/23/12) and just hope that Baby B decided to join us sooner so I can still try for my VBAC.

Seeing as I am now writing this post on 8/22, things aren't looking too good for my VBAC attempt and are looking more like a repeat c-section.  This made me a little sad this morning when I woke up and realized I wasn't in labor.  I started to come up with the "pros" of having a c-section...

1.  No one has to look at my lady parts/hemorrhoids
2.  My lady part remain just a destroyed as they are today
3.  I know when I am going to drop ds off with my mom
4.  I get 2 more weeks paid off of work
5.  I will not have an emergency c-section and therefore will be awake when Baby B is born

39 weeks (4.5 years ago & today)

38 & 39 week comparable

39 weeks!

How far along: 39 weeks

How big is baby:    It's likely he already measures about 20 inches and weighs a bit over 7 pounds, a mini watermelon. (Boys tend to be slightly heavier than girls.)

Sleep: Sleeping pretty well.  I usually get up once/night to use the bathroom.

Movement: Starting to slow down movements.  Probably running out of room!

Food cravings:  Liking Oreos, Apples and McDonald's hotcakes

Food adversions: none specifically

Gender: It's still a BOY!!

Symptoms: Heartburn, kind of crampy, BH contractions, getting up every night to use the bathroom

What do I miss: Sleeping on my stomach, regular clothes, working out, being able to take medicine without feeling guilty, fully caffienated drinks, wanting to eat food, whitening my teeth

Best moment of the week:  I am finally done with work!  I had my last day on Wed.  So my 1st day of maternity leave was at 38w5d.

What I'm looking forward to: Meeting Baby B

Milestones:  Only 1 week left until due date!  Baby B will most likely be born this week (one way or another).

Maternity clothes: Wearing mostly tshirts and shorts.  Done with work clothes!

38w3d appt.

Well...still 3.5 cm dilated and "a little more effaced".

Now the the not as fun stuff....I still have this "cold".  They took a throat culture and are sending it out to be examined.  I most likely have an ear infection and sinus infection along with my cough/upper respiratory tract infection.  I started the Z-pack antibiotics yesterday and will hopefully be healed soon.

My last day of work was today.  It was kind of difficult deciding whether to come out early or not, but it is tough being sick at work.

Not so good news...Baby B is still expected to be large.  I am going for another u/s Monday to check his growth and then have an OB appt. later in the day.  I am feeling less and less confident in my ability to VBAC.  And frankly, I am just sick and tired.  Literally!  Not of being pregnant....just of being sick!

37w4d appt.

Still have this awful cough and now, I have a cracked rib on my left side from all this coughing.  I really don't know how I am supposed to push out a baby while sick and having a cracked rib.  But hey, I guess people have done it in worse conditions!

On a positive note, I am now 3.5 cm dilate and my bag of water "is ready to pop".

Weight gain: +13 lbs (-4 lb from last week)

35w6d u/s

Had a good u/s yesterday at 35 weeks and 6 days.  Baby B is going to be a bigggggg baby if he makes it all the way until the end of August!  Yesterday he was measuring at 6lbs 15oz!  Yeah....at just under 36 weeks!

I had an u/s with ds #1 (4.5 years ago) at 36 weeks since my belly was measuring 4 weeks behind.  Ds #1 was estimated to be 4lbs 1oz at that time!  Quite the difference!

The u/s tech said that if Baby B makes it to his due date, she thinks he will be around 9lbs.  Guess we will just have to wait and see!

And for fun.... here is a pic of ds #1 @ 36 weeks

1st internal exam today... (35w3d)

Well, Dr. F. didn't even bother with the group B strep test since I was positive for it back in one of my urine cultures from one of my 3 UTIs.  She said we will just go ahead and call it positive and I will get the antibiotics while in labor.

She did an internal exam and I was found to be 2-3 cm dilated and 60-70% effaced.  I am not really suprised since I was 3 cm and 70% effaced with ds #1 at 36 weeks.
