14 week, OB appt.

Saw Dr. F. today (Dr. M.'s wife).  She is awesome!  I am still down 2lbs from my 1st visit, but I am sure that will change here soon! 

We went over my plans for a VBAC again and she is totally on board.  We also talked about how they won't induce me for a VBAC and will only let me go up to a week past my due date.  I guess if I get to that point, I will have to have a repeat c-section.  It's a chance I am still willing to take.

She then checked the baby's heart rate with the doppler and it was in the 140's.  I love hearing it.

The results from my u/s yesterday were in.  My cervix was measuring 3.8 cm which is ok.  The reason I need to be monitored again is, 2.5 weeks before that, the measurement was at 6 cm.  I kind of hope they just measured wrong the 1st time.

We went over my 1st trimester screening results as well (NT scan).  I am not a carrier for cystic fibrosis, so DH doesn't need to be tested.  The chances of this baby having downs syndrome are 1:27,500 and chances of trisomy 18/21 are 1:9,700  Seems pretty decent to me!  I declined any further testing (AFP test).

My next appt. is in 4 weeks and next u/s is in 2 weeks.

cervical length check u/s

So, at 14w2d, my cervical length was measuring between 3.6cm and 4.1cm.  I was told that this was "good", but I'll ask my OB tomorrow what exactly they are looking for.  I got a little nervous when the u/s tech told me to wait in the room while the dr looked at the numbers.  When someone entered the room again, it was the dr, so I got worried, but he said it look good too.  I go back in 2 weeks for another cervical length check.

I got to see the baby wiggling and stretching today.  It was really cute.  I wish DH could have been there, but soon enough he will see the baby again at the anatomy scan (4 weeks or so).

14 weeks

Week 13 went by without a hitch!  On to week 14.  I have an u/s at 14w2d to check cervical length and an OB appt. at 14w3d.

The 14 week info:

How far along:  14 weeks

 

How big is baby:  From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and he weighs 1 1/2 ounces

Sleep:  Finding it difficult to stay awake long enough at night to see DH come home from work

 

Movement:  Nothing yet

 

Food cravings:  I saw a show last night that talked about chocolate covered pretzels.  I decided that is my goal today....I need some

 

Food adversions:  I am less grossed out by food this week

 

Gender:  Who knows????

 

Symptoms:  Feeling pretty good, other than bloated.

 

What do I miss:  Nothing!

 

Best moment of the week:  Making it to 14 weeks

 

What I'm looking forward to:  u/s and appt. this week

 

Milestones:  I'm in the 2nd trimester!

 

Maternity clothes:  I wore maternity pants to work twice this week.  I borrowed some from a friend and the one pair was excellent...the other pair smooshed me too much.

 

Weight gain:  -2lbs

Baby Names...

When I was pg with ds...it almost seemed that the names just came to us.  DH and I easily agreed on a boy name and a girl name before finding out the sex at our anatomy scan.  There was no doubt...if ds was a boy he would be named Chase and if he was a she, the name would have been Brooklyn.

Now, DH and I have been throwing around some ideas of names....none of which we have agreed on.  We will most likely just wait until we find out if we are having a boy or a girl and then duke it out then.

So far, the names I like for a girl are:

Vera

Rae

Finley

Harper

For a boy:

Baylor

Bennett

DH has his own ideas...

Movement:  The little thing in moving, but I can't feel it yet!

Best moment of the week:  Nothing...no really, nothing happened and it was great!

Milestones:  I've made it another week

Maternity clothes:  I haven't broken them out yet.  I really should...  My pants seem to fit in the morning and then by mid-day I am unbuttoned and by the end of the day I need to be in sweats!  Maybe this week I will make the switch???

13 weeks

So apparently the baby is now "almost 3 inches long (the size of a medium shrimp) and weighs nearly an ounce".

That's pretty cool!  I had a pretty uneventful week...no dr appts., and no u/s.  I thought I had pulled a muscle in my stomach since I had some pain on my left side, but it only lasted a day or two.  I am still not very hungry, but feel better and hardly ever nauseous.

Here's to hoping for an uneventful week.  No doctor appointments, no ultrasounds.

Got to see the little babe again today.  Even after 4 previous u/s we still hadn't had the chance to see LO move yet.  Finally today we saw a jumpin' bean (not without some help from the u/s tech since babe seemed to be sleeping again when the scan started).

Hopefully we will get good results at my next appt.

For now, the next step is another u/s in 2 weeks to check my cervical length again.

Zofran my new friend??

Well...woke up this morning with some pain in my stomach.  I thought I might just have to go to the bathroom, so I did.

Anyway, long story short within 4 hours I had diarrhea at least 20 times and vomited at least 10.

I went to see my OB and she gave me an rx for Zofran to hopefully stop the vomiting and finally keep some water down.  I took the pill about 30 minutes ago and I do have to say I feel better.  Here's to hoping I keep feeling better!
